FABCAR have once again teamed up with Automotive Events Management to become the naming rights sponsor of the 2010 FABCAR 1-Day Classic.

An extremely popular event in 2008 and 2009, as the name suggest, the 1-Day Classic is an event run over 1 day at various locations including Kwinana Motorplex, and the Midvale Speed Dome. Competitors are able to compete in any roadworthy sport car with only minor safety apparel needed such as; Helmet, Fire Extinguisher, and First Aid Kit.

The event is also unique in the aspect that it is one of the few events which allows driver and co-driver to share the driving duties between each other at their discretion.

The entry fee is just $625 per car (for 2 people) which covers Scrutineering, all competition stages, the Roadbook, lunches, the Awards Presentation Night, trophies, car door number stickers and much more. A $70 fee per-car is applied by AASA, the event regulators and insurers.

More info on the event can be found at www.classicrally.com.au

Stay tuned for an announcement for the FABCAR Racing team for this event.

Steve Jones in his Evolution MR posted a strong finish at the Ktec Prologue event held at Kwinana Motorplex. This tops off a great November for Jones who won the Fabcar 1-day rally outright, and posted second in the Classic Adelaide in his first start. Jones is now set to take on Mt Buller again in the LF Engineered Nissan GT-R in coming fortnight. Visit our blog for latest news on his progress.

Franz Esterbauer finished in 2nd place in a Grey Evo 8 MR purchased a couple of years back from Fabcar. Franz also recently competed in his first Targa West campaign.

The White Evolution 8 MR of Ross Hamilton fired up for the event and he finished 3rd in great style in the 50+ car event. Hamilton has competed in two Targa Wests with this Evo 8 MR  purchased from Fabcar.  After a long break from Motor Racing, Ross has been posting some good results in various Motor Sports events.

“I just wanted write and tell you I had a blast yesterday, the event was run very well, heaps of stages and driving made it action packed, a friendly atmosphere amongst competitors and officials made it the most enjoyable rally I have run in.” according to one competitor who has participated in most rally style events in WA in an email after the event.

While another emailed “Just wanted to say a big thanks for organizing and running the event. My navvie and myself had an absolute ball!” and another email said: “PLEASE try to do as many of these events every year as possible, 4 including the 2-day Classic Challenge would be great. I will happily pre-register for all of them next year. It’s a really good value day compared with other events…”

From another entrant: “Your events just seem to get better and better. The day had a great atmosphere about it with a lot of people I haven’t seen before coming up and introducing themselves. The officials did a fantastic job and the event ran so smoothly thanks to them.” and “The one day layout is a fantastic way to go. It would be great to see the Classic Challenge kept with a few one day events through the year.”

Plus these remarks: “Thanks for organising the Fabcar event – a really well run day, and a lot of fun.  I reckon that format has a lot going for it, in that you get a lot of track time, some interesting locations, and good circuits.  I especially liked the fact that there were courses to suit all the different types of cars.”

And “my navigator and I really enjoyed the day, and we’ll be signing up for the next, and the next, and what-ever else you can serve up.”

After a successful first year in 2008, entries for the Fabcar 1-Day Challenge have opened for the 2009 event, taking place on the 15th of November using various locations around Perth.
